It's finally ready to release for pre-order! By far one of our most asked about items in recent years. This fabric was a bear to procure... while some lighter weight Sashiko Ori is readily available... after finding a shirt made of the good heavy stuff on a trip to Japan, I was dead set on making these from the same. At just under 16oz, this stuff is HEAVY feeling but moves freely at the same time. This "basket-weave" fabric was originally developed in Japan for Kendo uniforms (Keikogi) so ease of movement is imperative. The true beauty of this fabric is exposed as the high points start to show wear over the months and years. The result is a contrasting fade like no other fabric on earth. The super dark indigo will lighten with age in varying stages as the shirt becomes your own. This fabric is also VERY expensive and a quite a bit different to sew.. hence the heftier price tag on this piece as compared to our other shirts. 

Treat this shirt with respect as you care for it. Soak-wash (no spin cycle) and hang dry. 

A Note on photos: We try to include different lighting sources so you can get a more well rounded idea of the color over the screen. 

There are examples of a worn, sample version of this shirt in the photos. This is included to help you understand what to expect with a bit of wear. The shirt in the photos has about 6 months of almost daily wear and about 2-3 washes

• Solid brass, hand spun cymbal snaps - USA 

• Articulated two panel sleeves, button collar, and western yokes

• Warm soak when stinky with a light, natural detergent or Castile soap - DO NOT DRY 

• This fabric is VERY blue. As a warning please note that bleeding will occur prior to the first 2-3 washes. Wash/soak it alone and don’t wear it on top of a light colored shirt  

Sizing

Please note: Our in-house shrink test shows 2% shrinkage in both directions with a high heat machine wash and high heat machine dry. You can avoid much shrinkage at all if you soak/wash in warm and hang dry. This is our recommended care for this garment. We've included another size chart below. You can find delivered garment measurements AND a chart that depicts shrinkage after one wash and dry. 

All measurements are in inches and taken when the garment is laying flat, unless specified otherwise. Our measurements provided are best utilized when compared to a favorite fitting item of your own. Please refer to the diagram on where to measure your garment(s). If you have any questions, or need help comparing measurements to determine sizing, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
