AMANDA (she / her)
What do you do at the shop: At the moment I’m mostly hanging around the kick presses putting in snaps but I’m bouncing around learning a little bit of everything. There’s soooo much work and an incredible amount of knowledge that goes into crafting these products. I’m grateful to my coworkers for sharing their skills with me!
Preferred morning & evening beverage(s): Hot coffee for the AM. Cold coffee for the PM and water all day.
Where were you born & raised: Born and raised in Lebanon, PA but Philadelphia is where I ‘grew up’.
Favorite tool in the shop: There’s hundreds of tools in here! So far I’m loving the rivet setters. It’s really satisfying and not as intimidating as some of the other tools.
Album for a rainy day: Depends on my mood but lately I’ve been loving- Mattiel’s self titled album, 'Wake the Dreamers' by Shelley Short & the Sure Shots, 'Victim of Love' by Charles Bradley, 'Welcome to Hard Times' from Charley Crockett, and of course Dolly, rain or shine.
Local bar & / or restaurant recommendations: ThunderBird has the best Burgers and mezcal cocktails, Sapphire Hotel for cocktails, and Kind Coffee Cart for the best (and cheapest) breakfast sandwiches in town.
Favorite color of waxed canvas: Do they make it in a dark lavender?
Thoughts on mayo: Flavorless gelatinous goo? No thank you! Though I am fascinated by what Hellmans and Jell-O were able to accomplish together in America’s kitchens in the 60's. If you don’t know what I’m talking about google ‘tuna salad mold’.
Hobbies / crafts / activities outside of SJ: Playing board games or snuggling up with my kiddo is by far my favorite activity outside of work. I also enjoy yard work, simple weaving when I have the time and being by a river or lake as much as possible in the summer months.
