On a recent trip to Japan, our friend Kenzo of TK Welding Factory introduced us to his camping cookware. Crafted in Sakai, we were amazed by the versatility and quality of these pieces.
Paired with your favorite camp stove, the carbon steel "iron plate" is a perfect cooking surface for steaks, burgers, sausages and more. At almost 4lb, the thick steel holds heat beautifully. It also doubles as a heavy lid for the pot, converting it into a rice/pressure cooker. Set it up with the plate on the bottom and pot as a lid, and you've got yourself a mini oven. The pot is also a great little frying pan for sautéing up your veggies. Made of carbon steel, it comes with a removable handle & TIG welded in corners.
This is a very high quality, practical, and packable cookware setup ideal for car/motorcycle/ canoe type camping. Weighing about 6lbs total, it's not practical for backpacking or bicycle camping. This carbon steel beast will literally last forever, built to out-camp you. Care for it as you would your favorite cast iron pan with frequent oiling. A proper deep seasoning should be done prior to use, instructions are included how to do so.
Couldn't leave Japan without bringing a few of these to share with you all. We have a very small quantity for now, but hopefully we can get more as time goes on.
